| Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D Nintendo 3DS Dev: Kojima Pub: Konami Rated M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language, Sexual Themes A couple weeks ago, I found the opportunity to play the MGS 3D demo which was up for download on the Nintendo Eshop. A few days ago, I was able to delve further into Snake's eyes. This game is a beautiful remake of MGS 3: Snake Eater. Even if you have not played an MGS game before, Snake Eater is perfect for beginners because it is set in the origins of Jack, AKA Snake. The gameplay is fantastic. The controls may be slightly tough, since aiming the camera uses the face buttons instead of (more preferably) the touch screen. However, snag a circle pad pro and this game, along with other's such as Kid Icarus, or Resident Evil Revelations, and your experience will be exactly like a home console experience. The 3D is amazing, and the story is full of suspense that literally put me on the edge of my seat. Dialogue in the game can take a while, but it's pretty interesting, and has some gameplay in it for your wait. The game has a very realiistic setting, from surviving in the jungle, to stealth missions in Soviet Headquarters, to engaging boss battles, even to battles aboard a vehicle. Graphics are awesome, and really show what the 3DS can do. Every technology of the 3DS is used in this game, even the camera for custom camouflage, and the gyro sensor for climbing trees or crossing deadly bridges. The game's realism is amazing. It includes wildlife you must earn to live off of for survival (or even to distract the enemy), gut-tightening stealth missions that really make you feel like you are there with Snake, camouflageand disguises that, when used correctly, can make the enemies think they are imagining things, medical supplies from leeches, broken bones, gunshot wounds, etc., and much, much more. This game is a must have for anyone. If you ask me, this game deserves a 9.5/10. What could possibly make this game better? Oh yes-- Yoshi! That's right, the little green dinosaur is back and can be found in various areas in the game, even in the E3 trailer! Now go fish for your wallet and buy this game. | |
